Details: Elephant Rock Campground, located in Carson National Forest near the Red River, is the best campground in New Mexico for those traveling with dogs. The campground offers a scenic and shady spot surrounded by ponderosa pines, spruce trees, and aspen trees. Campers can explore hiking trails in the area with their dogs, or go fishing in the river.
Elephant Rock Campground has 12 campsites available for camping trailers up to 16 feet long, as well as campsites for RVs. The campground, which is open from May through September, is $22 a night. During the last few weeks of the season, campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Details: Rockhound State Park, nestled among the Little Florida Mountains slopes in Deming, provides a great opportunity for families to have fun and learn about nature. The park offers educational programs for kids, as well as a chance to look for crystals, quartz, and other rocks and minerals.
Rockhound State Park has 22 campsites available with electric hook-ups for RVs, as well as 6 campsites with no hook-ups. The campground also has a few RV campsites with water hook-ups. Open year round, fees for these sites are generally $10 for camping plus $5 for a daily entrance fee.

Details: Located 12 miles north of Carlsbad close to the Pecos River, Brantley Lake State Park offers the best campground to go to for birding and fishing. The park offers plenty of chances to see a wide range of local and migrating birds, including pelicans, gulls, shorebirds, waterfowl, and wading birds. It's also known as one of the best fishing spots in the state for largemouth bass, white bass, walleye, catfish, and more.
Brantley Lake State Park has 51 developed campsites, with most offering electric and water hook-ups and a few offering water, electric, and sewer hook-ups. An on-site RV dump station is also available. Camping fees are generally $10 per night throughout the year.

Details:Angel Fire RV Resort, located near Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park and Eagle Nest Lake, provides a luxurious RV camping experience. The resort features spectacular mountain views, as well as a bathhouse, therapeutic massage, pickle ball courts, a putting green, and microfitness center. Campers also have access to the country club pool.
Angel Fire RV Resort has 30 and 50 amp full hook-ups available and welcomes RVs that are at least 20 feet in length, making it a great place for those with larger RVs. The resort is open all year and provides free WiFi. Rates vary, but package discounts are available.

Details: Located in Gila National Forest, Cosmic Campground is the perfect place to go for stargazing. The campground is a designated International Dark Sky Sanctuary, providing clear views of the night sky in all directions and concrete telescope/observation pads for better viewing. Cosmic Campground doesn't offer much shade during the day, so plan accordingly.
Cosmic Campground does not require reservations and is open year round. Campsites are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping trailers are welcome, but this primitive campground does not have hook-ups. There's no fee for staying at Cosmic Campground, also making it a budget-friendly place.
Bluewater Lake State Park

Details: Bluewater Lake State Park is the best place to camp for water activities. The park offers beautiful views of Bluewater Lake and the nearby Zuri Mountains. Campers can fish for tiger muskie in the lake, go boating, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, or water skiing. Hiking trails are also available to explore the park's juniper-covered landscape.
Bluewater Lake State Park has close to 150 developed campsites available, including some lakeside sites, with 14 sites offering electric hook-ups for RVs. City of Rocks State Park

The park features volcanic rock columns, some measuring up to 40 feet high, that were formed nearly 35 million years ago. City of Rocks State Park has 4 campsites with water and electric hook-ups where reservations are required and a couple of campsites with water and electric hook-ups that do not require reservations. Camping fees are generally $10 per night throughout the year.

Campers can hike 15 miles of trails, go scuba diving, fish from the pier, go swimming, or take a boat out on the water. The park also has volleyball, picnicking, and water skiing available, as well as historic sites.
Elephant Butte State Park has 173 developed campsites, with 144 offering water and electric hook-ups and 8 having water, electric, and sewer hook-ups. An RV dump station and water are available at the campground. The campground, open year round, has fees that are generally $10 per night for camping.

Details: Gallo Campground, located in Chaco Culture National Historic Park, provides the best spot to choose for a rustic camping vacation. Surrounded by cliffs, petroglyphs, boulders, cliff dwellings, and other rugged features, the campground offers a scenic yet remote location to set up camp in an RV. Since there are no hook-ups available, campers should plan accordingly.
